Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar paid a surprise visit to Karnal today and inspected sites to review the pace of various development projects

First, he visited the western bypass project site near Uchana village, which would connect the Kaithal road and National Highway-44. This 6.3-km road stretch, being constructed at a cost of Rs 57.09 crore, would reduce traffic congestion in Karnal city

On an assurance by officials that the project would be completed by March 22, nine days before the deadline, Khattar directed the authorities to beautify both sides of the bypass with trees and lights

He directed the Irrigation Department to raise a wall along the Western Yamuna Canal. He asked the authorities to monitor the pace of work regularly

“Work on the western bypass is going on fast. A railway underpass will be constructed by the end of February. The bypass will be operational by the end of March,” he told mediapersons after the inspection

He inspected progress on a bus stand being constructed at a cost of Rs 8.49 crore, which would part of the ISBT at the Baldi bypass

Khattar told mediapersons that the first phase of the bus stand would be completed by the end of January and would be functional by February

In the first phase, counters for six buses had been constructed. The remaining counters would be constructed in the next phase

He was told that a solid waste treatment plant was scheduled to be constructed by the Public Health Department. He directed the authorities to construct the plant at the earliest

The Chief Minister asked the authorities to start city bus service. DC Aditya Dahiya told him that buses had arrived in the city for the project

Khattar was told that the process to recruit drivers and conductors was underway. On this, he directed officials to start the service by January 26

Asked about the meeting of Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni and others with President Ram Nath Kovind against de-notification of the Dadupur-Nalvi canal land, he said this project was against farmers

The Chief Minister went to the PWD Rest House, where he interacted with party workers and listened to grievances of residents

In the evening, he visited Karan Taal Park to enjoy the musical fountain with LED lights. He interacted with residents present in the park
