The Gujarat government has requested premier city-based B-School, Indian School of Business (ISB), which currently has campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali, to consider setting up a presence in that state

Gujarat energy minister Saurabh Patel met ISB dean Rajendra Srivastava and urged him to set up an ISB center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT)

ISB is in advance stages of designing a Post Graduate Programme in Finance for Working Professionals (PGPpro) to be launched in Mumbai in 2019 and the minister invited ISB to consider launching the programme in Gandhinagar at GIFT

A delegation led by Patel, which was in the city on Friday as part of a roadshow to pitch to investors the 9th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019 to be held during January 18-20, met top officials of companies, educational institutions as well as T-Hub here

Apart from meeting representatives of Telangana’s apex trade and industry body, Ftapcci, (Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry), the minister met Anil Bhansali, managing director, Microsoft India (R&D) Private Limited, and discussed avenues of collaboration in education, emerging technologies such as Internet of Things and machine learning, and agriculture sector, among others

He also met Tech Mahindra senior vice-president Sharat Kumar and discussed the company’s expansion plans in Gujarat. Patel also had discussions with T-Hub CEO Srinivas Kollipara

The minister briefed about the investment potential in Gujarat and policies designed for different sectors. “We are going to focus on services sector such as tourism, biotech and IT among others,” he added

Patel also added though the state has slipped in the ease of doing business rankings in the past couple of years, it has not impacted investment inflow but helped improve competitiveness
